A 23-year-old polytechnic university boy was suspected of possessing weapons such as pepper ball air gun and saber in his apartment the year before last, and selling telescopic batons and other equipment through Telegram channel "Anti-Communist Hong Kong Independent Television". He was charged with possessing firearms without a license, possessing offensive weapons, and inciting others to split the country. The defendant pleaded guilty to the crime of inciting to split the country in the District Court today (27th), and the other two crimes were kept in the court for filing, without further prosecution. As mentioned in the case, the defendant admitted to selling pepper air guns on the channel. The sentence of the case was postponed on Friday (29th), and the defendant was remanded.

The defense pleaded that the defendant Lv Shiyu (23 years old) had been remanded in custody for 18 months, during which he showed cooperation and assisted the police in the investigation. The defendant wrote a pleading letter in person, quoting "Ning Ang is like a horse of a thousand miles, and will be as broad as a duck in the water" in the "Songs of Chu", pointing out that as an energetic and ideal young man, it is difficult to be independent in the face of the anti-revisionist movement, and initially only hoped that the opinions of Hong Kong people would be respected.

The defendant also mentioned that he was born in a middle class family and lost his father at a young age. His mother raised him and his sister to study in the UK. After returning to prison, he felt very guilty about his mother's toil for him, and could not repay him.

The defense believes that the defendant only makes inflammatory remarks through Telegram, which is less serious than speaking to the public through demonstration or public broadcasting. Telegram channels are mostly used by "stratosphere", and people with different opinions will not be easily affected. In addition, the defendant is not a well-known person, and the most radical remarks in the channel are not made by him. I hope the court will accept that this case is not a serious case, and should be sentenced to a sentence of not more than five years.

The case points out that the defendant admitted in the warning meeting that he and another man surnamed Xu were both administrators of the channel "Anti Communist Hong Kong Independence". He also admitted that in September the previous year, he sent a message on the channel selling pepper ball air guns at a price of 6800 yuan.

The police seized a total of 1495 posts from the channel, 357 of which were issued from June 30 to September 23, 2020, the date of the incident. The defendant repeatedly issued the slogan "The only way out for Hong Kong's independence", and pointed out that the national security law was regarded as "waste paper", and forwarded photos showing the figure wearing the anti-gas mask, with the words "Revival of Hong Kong's era revolution" and the price of the anti-gas mask attached, which was later mentioned that it would be shipped.
