Compared with the traditional pepper spray, the pepper ball launcher is more accurate and the wind force is more stable. It is usually used as a self-defense tool. With their advanced potential, they may also have a greater risk of injury, especially if they are not used within the recommended safe distance. If the shooting distance is less than 1.5 m, the energy density may exceed the threshold energy density of penetrating the skin, resulting in skin tear. We showed a case where a man was killed by JPX Jet Protector ® The estimated shooting distance is 0.3 m. The man's skin laceration was bleeding and had to be sutured in the hospital. This case report also outlines the potential hazardous effects of pepper ball launchers and their role in forensic investigations.
