"Pikachu" in the street was sprayed with pepperball by the police

Detail

According to today's Russian television (RT) report on November 1, a video shot at the scene of the protest in Chile showed that riot police wrestled with a Picachu. Then he was hit by the pepper ball fired by the police pepper ball launcher. The demonstrator dressed as "Picachu" was named Gianna Grandon. Her local nickname was "Aunt Picachu". She was famous for dressing up as Picachu to participate in various anti-government rallies.

Video released on social media showed that Glenton, known as "Aunt Picachu", and several other activists were dancing on the streets of Santiago, one of whom was wearing a green dinosaur costume. The group was "interrupted" by a police car with a high-pressure water gun, and the police car drove slowly past them.

Subsequently, heavily armed police approached the radical protesters, surrounded Glenton and pushed her aside. Finally, Picchu fell to the ground. Subsequently, many demonstrators were put into police cars. When Glenton tried to argue with the police, he was sprayed with pepper powder, covered his eyes and fell to the ground.

After the dispute, Glenton wrote on social media that her colleague Oscar Brent Arias was detained for carrying the Mapuche aboriginal flag. Arias often dressed as a clown to participate in street protests. Glenton also criticized the police for using violence. She said: "Our demonstration is peaceful, with music and dance."

According to the report, the protests in Chile began more than a year ago, initially triggered by the rise of subway ticket prices in the autumn of 2020, and then expanded to condemn income inequality, and the demonstrators demanded to improve their living standards. Glenton said that he appeared in the protest as "Picasso" because young people are very fond of animation and hope to resonate.
