Police fire pepper bombs during street protests against national

Detail

Under the impact of China's imminent enactment of a national security law for Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Legislative Council will review the national anthem law for four consecutive days today, reviving street protests that had been quiet for months. The intimidation started from noon to the intersection of Central, Causeway Bay and Mong Kok. Some people tried to block the road, but all were dispelled by riot police with pepper ball shotguns and pepper spray. As of 4 p.m., the police had arrested more than three Hundred people, mainly involved in suspected illegal assembly, including a 14-year-old boy who was hiding a petrol bomb, and towed three vehicles

Netizens have called on citizens to "three strikes" (strikes, market strikes, and school strikes) and road blockages on the Internet a few days ago. The police are on guard. According to reports, the police used 3,500 personnel to deal with the protests that the legislation may cause. However, in the morning, there were not many responders, and the traffic was not affected. Although some people in the subway blocked the doors and the trains could not leave as usual, the situation was not serious. The situation outside the Legislative Council was calm, and almost only police officers and water Horse, no protesters. But from noon, the situation intensified, with protesters mainly in Central, Causeway Bay and Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island, as well as Mong Kok in Kowloon.

In Central, the financial center of Hong Kong, nearly 1,000 people gradually gathered at lunch time. Some people shouted slogans such as "five requirements, one is indispensable" against the amendment bill and the anti-national anthem law. After being warned by the police, they still did not disperse, and some people left. They went to the middle of the road and blocked the road with trash cans and other debris. However, when the protesters did not use force, the police fired multiple rounds of pepper balls to disperse them, causing the protesters and men and women in suits and skirts to scatter in a panic, some holding hands. Umbrella protesters also dispersed from Pedder Street to other inner streets.

In Causeway Bay, a large number of people gathered on Hennessy Road from noon. The police stopped nearly 100 people to search, and asked them to sit on the ground in scores and wait for the body search. Most of them were young people. After more than an hour, some people were taken away on the tour bus, and some people who had been searched and released gathered again outside Hysan Plaza, shouting slogans. Outside the square, Percival Street was blocked off and pepper spray was used to disperse the crowd. Some passersby were sprayed and felt uncomfortable. Police later announced that a total of 180 people had been arrested in Central and Causeway Bay.

In addition, in Wan Chai, some people gathered around 1:30. Some people once occupied the traffic lane of Hennessy Road. The police finally stopped the gathering near the police headquarters. After investigation, more than 50 people were arrested for participating in an unauthorized assembly.

In Mong Kok, Kowloon, the crowd gathered for demonstrations later than Hong Kong Island. At about 2 pm, some citizens rushed out of the road near Langham Place, occupied several lanes of Nathan Road, and put garbage in the center of the road to block the road. The police immediately took action to disperse, and pepper spray was used. The crowd fled, and some people were seen wearing school uniforms. Someone was injured and arrested on the spot. After the police cleared the roadblocks, the road was reopened, and the citizens reunited soon. This kind of situation where the police retreated and the civilians entered occurred at least twice. The police later announced that they had arrested more than 60 people, including one who had gasoline found on his body during the check. The bullet hit a 14-year-old with a wooden stick with iron nails.

The police also pointed out that from the early hours of this morning to the morning, rioters set fire to debris, threw large debris on the railway tracks of the Hong Kong Railway, and placed iron nails on the road to pierce the car's bottom. Sexual weapons, the situation is worrying.
